The Poets & Writers Gala | In Celebration of Writers

The Poets & Writers Gala celebrates the indispensable contributions of writers both to our national discourse and to the inner lives of readers. Funds raised enable Poets & Writers to provide broad access to information about publishing and help writers from all backgrounds build community, connect with opportunities, and advance their careers.

Our 2024 Gala took place on Tuesday, March 26, at Pier Sixty in New York City. Laurie Halse Anderson, Roxane Gay, and Nikole Hannah-Jones received the 2024 Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Award. Mitchell Kaplan was honored with the Champion for Writers Award. David Remnick was our host.  Nihar Malaviya, CEO of Penguin Random House, was our gala chair. (Read the press release.)

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, including Premier Underwriters Penguin Random House and Books-a-Million, we raised more than $1,032,000. Proceeds from the event support Poets & Writers Magazine, pw.org, the Readings & Workshops program, Get the Word Out, and more.
