Author's Bio

I have a bachelor's degree in French language and literature from Georgetown University and a creative writing MFA from Indiana University. I teach for Northwestern University's graduate writing program and for the low-residency MFA program at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. My books are Portraits of a Few of the People I've Made Cry (Univ. of Mass. Press 2010, Bloomsbury 2013), winner of the Grace Paley Prize in Short Fiction 2009; and Little Known Facts (Bloomsbury 2013). Stories have been published in Best American Short Stories, PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories, Southern Review, Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, New England Review, Southern Review, The Literary Review, and a number of other journals. I live in Evanston, IL.
