Titanic costars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet will appear together again in a film adaption of Richard Yates's novel Revolutionary Road (Little, Brown, 1961). The movie, which is scheduled to begin filming this summer, will be directed by Sam Mendes, who won an Academy Award for his directorial debut, American Beauty (1999). New York-based screenwriter Justin Haythe, who received an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, adapted the screenplay.

Revolutionary Road is the story of April and Frank Wheeler, a young couple living with their two children in an affluent Connecticut suburb in the 1950s. The author's first and most acclaimed novel, it is a stinging account of marital disappointment and post-war disillusionment. Yates, the author of seven novels and four story collections, died in 1992. The Collected Stories of Richard Yates was published by Henry Holt in 2001.
