Author's Bio

Felicia Mitchell, a native of South Carolina, has made her home in rural southwestern Virginia since 1987. Her poems in recent years have focused on the natural world of Appalachia, personal and family stories, and medical interests including cancer and dementia. While listed as a poet with P&W, she has years of experience publishing creative nonfiction for newspapers, journals, anthologies, and blogs. Felicia was educated at the University of South Carolina (BA, MA) and The University of Texas at Austin (PhD). She retired with emeritus status after teaching poetry and creative nonfiction, among other classes, at Emory & Henry College (1987-2020).
