Author's Bio

The daughter of American diplomats, Jehanne Dubrow was born in Italy and grew up in Yugoslavia, Zaire, Poland, Belgium, Austria, and the United States. She is the author of seven poetry collections, including most recently American Samizdat, Dots & Dashes,The Arranged MarriageRed Army Red, and Stateside. She co-edited two poetry anthologies, Still Life with Poem and The Book of Scented Things. She is also the author of a book of creative nonfiction, throughsmoke: an essay in notes. Her eighth collection of poems, Simple Machines, won the Richard Wilbur Poetry Award and will be published by the University of Evansville Press at the end of 2019.

Her poetry, creative nonfiction, and book reviews have appeared in Virginia Quarterly ReviewThe New England Review, The Southern Review, The New York Times Magazine, American Life in Poetry, and on Poetry Daily and Verse Daily. She is an Associate Professor of creative writing at the University of North Texas.
