Author's Bio

Marguerite María Rivas’s essays, articles, book reviews, and poetry have been published in journals and periodicals, and she has garnered numerous grants and awards, including the Marg Chandler Memorial Award from A Room of Her Own Foundation. Cited by the New York State Legislature for her contribution to the literary arts, she is widely regarded as the de facto Poet Laureate of Staten Island. Rivas has recorded with and perfomed with Earth People, a jazz-fusion group and is a member of the performance collective Elektromotif. Tell No One: Poems of Witness (Chimbarazu Press 2012) is her first full-length collection. She is an Associate Professor of English at Borough of Manhattan Community College of The City University of New York.
