Author's Bio

Robert Farnsworth's new book, Rumored Islands, appeared from Harbor Mountain Press in January 2010. He has published two previous collections of poetry with Wesleyan University Press, Three Or Four Hills And A Cloud (1982), and Honest Water (1989), and for more than twenty-five years his poems have appeared widely in periodicals across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.. For seven years he edited poetry for the Washington D.C. quarterly The American Scholar. He has taught writing and literature at SUNY Binghamton, Ithaca College, UC Irvine, and Colby College, and has conducted reading groups and workshops for various audiences of all ages, under the auspices of libraries, hospitals, prisons, etc., and has given readings at many venues over the years. Since 1990 he has taught in the English Dept. at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
