The 34th annual Sewanee Writers’ Conference will be held from July 16 to July 28 on the campus of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. The conference features workshops, special topics classes, lectures, one-on-one meetings with faculty, and readings for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. The faculty includes poets Marianne Chan, Eduardo C. Corral, Nate Marshall, Carl Phillips, Caki Wilkinson, and Felicia Zamora; fiction writers Debra Magpie Earling, Adrianne Harun, Katie Kitamura, Michael Knight, Jill McCorkle, Claire Messud, Chinelo Okparanta, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Sarah Shun-lien Bynum, and Luis Alberto Urrea; and nonfiction writers Jaquira Díaz, Alex Marzano-Lesnevich, Elena Passarello, and Aisha Sabatini Sloan. Participating publishing professionals include agents Sarah Burnes (Gernert Company) and Annie Hwang (Ayesha Pande Literary) and editors Gerald Maa (Georgia Review) and Jessica Q. Stark (AGNI). Tuition, including room and board, is $2,000. Writers submitted 10 to 15 pages of poetry or 20 to 30 pages of prose by March 15. There is no application fee.
