Trethewey and McCarthy Win 2007 Pulitzer Prizes

Natasha Trethewey won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for Native Guard (Houghton Mifflin). Also nominated were Martín Espada for The Republic of Poetry (Norton) and David Wojahn for Interrogation Palace: New & Selected Poems 1982-2004 (University of Pittsburgh Press).

The winner in the fiction category is Cormac McCarthy for his novel The Road (Knopf). Also nominated were Alice McDermott for After This (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) and Richard Powers for The Echo Maker (Farrar, Straus and Giroux).

Trethewey and McCarthy will each receive ten thousand dollars.
