Author's Bio

I am currently at work on Starts Wednesday: a Year in the Life of a Movie Palace, a memoir of 1976 and a 2,572-seat palace, which friends and I leased for a year. The book is also the story of my early marriage in the turbulent 1970's, the discovery of my vocation as a writer and poet, and my growing awareness of the very urban suburb, St. George Staten Island, where I lived. If failure is the best way to learn, our loss of the theater in 1977 was the best lesson of my young adulthood. The current draft of SW is approximately 63,000 words. To support it, in 2014, I launched the website www.startswednesday.com, which includes a blog, freshened every Wednesday morning (the new movie always started on Wednesday).
