Author's Bio

Ramsey received his Ph.D. from Tulane University in 1998 and currently teaches in the Department of History and Philosophy at Lander University. He was awarded the Martin Luther King, Jr. distinguished service award by the University of Idaho in 2005 for public activism in support of civil rights and racial tolerance, and he received the George C. Rodgers, Jr. book award in 2008 from the South Carolina Historical Society.
