Two prizes of $5,500 each and publication by a participating press are given annually for a poetry collection and a short story collection. In addition, two prizes of $2,500 each and publication by a participating press are given annually for a novel and a book of creative nonfiction. For the Donald Hall Prize in Poetry, submit a manuscript of at least 48 pages; Vijay Seshadri will judge, and University of Pittsburgh Press will publish the winning collection. For the Grace Paley Prize in Short Fiction, submit a manuscript of 150 to 300 pages; Amy Hempel will judge, and University of Massachusetts Press will publish the winning collection. For the AWP Prize for the Novel, submit a manuscript of at least 60,000 words; Karen Tei Yamashita will judge, and New Issues Poetry & Prose will publish the winning novel. For the AWP Prize for Creative Nonfiction, submit an essay collection or memoir of 150 to 300 pages; Michael Steinberg will judge, and University of Georgia Press will publish the winning book. The entry fee for each award is $30 ($20 for AWP members). Using the online submission system, submit manuscripts between January 1 and February 28. A prize of $15,000 and publication by Fiction Collective Two, an imprint of University of Alabama Press, is given annually for a short story collection, novella, novella collection, or novel.
