Soundings East, the literary journal of Salem State University, has published quality fiction, poetry, and nonfiction for 40 years. The magazine is published annually with support from the Center for Creative and Performing Arts. Edited by upper-level creative students under the aegis of an advisory editor from the writing faculty, Soundings East is distributed nationally, with recent press runs of 750 copies.

South Jersey Underground was born out of a desire to provide an outlet for writers and artists alike. Our goal is to fuse the mediums of fiction, poetry, and visual art; creating a unique mural with every issue. SJU a bi-monthly magazine or maybe quarterly magazine that is sometimes published monthly. There is no formal structure to how many authors or artists are included in each issue and no restrictions on submitted content. Based in New Jersey, with a slight leaning to that states artists and writers, the magazine accepts submissions from everywhere.

Journal South Loop Review

South Loop Review is a literary journal of Creative Nonfiction and Photography. We publish essays and memoir in lyric and experimental forms. We give greater emphasis to non-linear narratives and blended genres. We welcome montaged and illustrated essays, as well as narrative photography.

Journal Southern Humanities Review

Southern Humanities Review publishes fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Translations in all genres have also appeared in the journal. SHR is currently undergoing a complete redesign, inside and out. Our new look debuts with Issue 48.2. The journal recently established the Auburn Witness Poetry Prize Honoring Jake Adam York, poet and Auburn University alum. $1,000 and publication in SHR will be awarded annually to one poem of witness by an American poet.
