Three prizes of $1,000 each are given annually for a group of poems, a short story or a novel excerpt, and an essay. The winners will also be published in Quarterly West and will receive tuition to attend the Writers at Work Conference in Salt Lake City in June. Writers who have not published a book in the genre in which they are applying are eligible. Alison H. Deming will judge in poetry, Ann Hood will judge in fiction, and Judith Barrington will judge in nonfiction. Using the online submission system, submit up to six poems totaling no more than 10 pages or up to 5,000 words of prose with a $25 entry fee by January 31. Visit the website for complete guidelines.
