Funding/Employment Opportunities: 

The program offers full funding via various teaching, research, and administrative positions, as well as scholarship and travel funds to attend writing conferences and workshops. Paid positions include teaching creative writing and composition, working as research and teaching assistants in upper-division classes, and serving in editorial positions for our various affiliated journals.

This program features a weekly visiting writers series (past guests include Derek Walcott, Marilynne Robinson, Phillip Lopate, and many others), an annual two-day writing retreat at Capitol Reef National Park, and opportunities for MFA students to teach introductory creative writing classes. MFA students can also help produce the literary magazine Fourth Genre: Exploration in Nonfiction, as well as coordinate the reading series, and apply to work as a teaching assistant on a biennial creative writing study abroad to the United Kingdom. BYU is affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
