Millicent Borges Accardi

Millicent Borges Accardi, a Portuguese-American writer has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, CantoMundo, California Arts Council, Fulbright Foundation, Fundação Luso-Americana (FLAD), the Foundation of Comtemporary Arts (FCA: Covid emergency artist grant), the Barbara Deming Foundation (Money for Women).  

She is the author of  four poetry collections: Through a Grainy Landscape (New Meridian Arts, 2021),  Only More So (Salmon Poetry, Ireland 2016),  Injuring Eternity (Mischievous Muse 2010),  Quarantine Highway (FlowerSong Press, 2022), and a chapbook, "Woman on a Shaky Bridge" (FLP 2010).  She organizes the popular Kale Soup for the Soul literary reading series (Portuguese-American writers reading work about family, food and culture); and "Loose Lips" (a quarterly reading series sponsored by Poets & Writers, which brings a diverse array of the best contemporary poets to Los Angeles County library in Topanga).

Her poetry and non-fiction has appeared widely including New American Writing, Nimrod, Tampa Review, Laurel Review, TAB, New Letters and the AWP Writers Chronicle. She lives in Topanga, CA and telecommutes as a freelance writer.  Residencies include Yaddo, Jentel, Vermont Studio Center, with international residenices: Fundación Valparaíso (Mojacar, Spain), Disquiet in Lisbon, Portugal and Milkwood in Cesky Krumlov, CZ.
