Author's Bio

A multi-Pushcart Prize nominee, Jennifer Hambrick is the author of the poetry collections In the High Weeds, winner of the 2020 Stevens Manuscript Competition of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies; Joyride (Red Moon Press); and Unscathed (NightBallet Press), nominated for the Ohioana Book Award.  Hambrick won the 2020 Sheila-Na-Gig Press Poetry Prize, won First Place in the 2018 Haiku Society of America Haibun Award Competition, was featured by former U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser in American Life in Poetry, and was appointed the inaugural Artist-in-Residence at historic Bryn Du Mansion, Granville, Ohio.  Hundreds of her free verse and Japanese short-form poems and haiga have been published in in literary journals and anthologies around the world, including the Santa Clara Review, The Main Street Rag, Third Wednesday, Mad River Review, The American Journal of Poetry, JuxtaProse Literary Magazine, The Ekphrastic Review, Pudding Magazine, River River, Frogpond, Modern Haiku, World Haiku Review, The Heron’s Nest, Mayfly, Cattails, Wales Haiku Review, Haiku Canada Review, Presence, Kingfisher, Bones, Sonic Boom, Shamrock, Eucalypt, Haibun Today, Contemporary Haibun Online, DailyHaiga, Haigaonline, the major Japanese newspapers The Asahi Shimbun and The Mainichi, the invited anthologies jar of rain: The 2020 Red Moon Anthology of English-Language Haiku (2021), The Red Moon Anthology of Contemporary Haibun, Vol. 16 (2021), a hole in the light: The 2018 Red Moon Anthology of English-Language Haiku (2019), Haiku 2021: 100 Notable Ku from 2020 (2021), Haiku 2020: 100 Notable Ku from 2019 (2020), and in dozens of other journals worldwide, in English and in translation.  A frequent recipient of poetry commissions, Hambrick has also received awards and recognitions from Tokyo’s NHK World TV, Haiku Poets of Northern California, the Ohio Poetry Association, and others.  Jennifer Hambrick is a classical musician and public radio broadcaster, video producer, and web producer, and serves as an Ohio Arts Council Teaching Artist in Columbus, Ohio.
