The original Eastside Writers' Workshop began meeting in 1999. Accept no imitation! Free writing workshop open to all adults, of all writing abilities, all genres; we welcome East siders and West siders. Join us at the Wickliffe Public Library, where, each month we feature ONE writer to critique up to 10 pages of fiction/nonfiction (double spaced). Preregister to be scheduled as the monthly writer (advance distribution is requested). Other participants bring 8-9 copies of a poem or up to three pages of prose, double-spaced, for "Gentle Critique." If time permits, after a break, we will write in response to a prompt. Please note: Every so often, libraries close due to bad weather. If in doubt, call the library before heading out.
Find details about every creative writing competition—including poetry contests, short story competitions, essay contests, awards for novels, grants for translators, and more—that we’ve published in the Grants & Awards section of Poets & Writers Magazine during the past year. We carefully review the practices and policies of each contest before including it in the Writing Contests database, the most trusted resource for legitimate writing contests available anywhere.
