The retreat features classes on all aspects of publishing, workshops, pitch sessions, query letter critiques, one-on-one consultations, and independent time to write for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. Residents also receive a personalized publishing plan. Participating publishing professionals include executive director Mary Gannon (Community of Literary Magazines and Presses) and editor Kevin Larimer (Poets & Writers). Residents are provided with a single- or double-occupancy room and a private bathroom, as well as access to an outdoor hot tub and steam room. The cost of the retreat, which includes lodging, meals, local concierge services, and private transportation to and from the train station in Geneva, is $6,150 for a single-occupancy room or $5,450 for a double-occupancy room (Poets & Writers Magazine subscribers receive a $350 discount with code KLPW24). To apply, submit 500 to 1,000 words of poetry or prose (including excerpts from a poetry collection, short story, novel, memoir, or other work of nonfiction) and a personal statement.
