The Book-of-the-Month Club, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, recently announced the return of its editorial board of judges, a four-member panel of best-selling authors that recommends at least five books to members of the club each year.

The new judges are Bill Bryson, Nelson DeMille, Annie Proulx, and Anna Quindlen. They will serve two-year terms and act as independent advisers, offering suggestions for book selections, the first of which will be made this winter.

Established in 1926 to create brand recognition and lend an authoritative voice to the club's monthly offerings, the board of judges was abolished in 1993. The Book-of-the-Month Club decided to reinstate the board in response to BOMC members' complaints that they missed the literary taste and standards established by the panel.
