Carole Baron Named New President of G.P. Putnam

Carole Baron was named president of the G.P. Putnam & Sons division of the nation's second largest book publisher, Penguin Putnam, on November 6. Baron fills the position previously held by Phyllis Grann, who resigned in September.

Baron, who is also the president of the Dutton division of Penguin Putnam, joined the company in 1999. She currently edits best-selling authors Tracy Chevalier (Girl With a Pearl Earring) and Maeve Binchy (Tara Road).
