Author's Bio

Bryon MacWilliams won awards for his journalism in the United States before moving to post-Soviet Russia, where he was based for more than a decade as a foreign correspondent covering the territories of the former Soviet Union. He is author of "With Light Steam," a memoir from Russia through the lens of its bath culture, and "The Girl in the Haystack," a Holocaust story from western Ukraine. His reporting, essays, poetry, and literary translations have appeared in publications big and small, including: "The New York Times," "The Chronicle of Higher Education," "Nature," "Science," "The Literary Review," "B O D Y," "Mom Egg Review," "Sonora Review," and "Solstice."
