Author's Bio

Doris Ferleger, PhD, is the author of three full-length volumes of poetry, Big Silences in a Year of Rain, As the Moon Has Breath, and Leavened, and a chapbook entitled When You Become Snow. Among many accolades about Ferleger’s work, Aliki Barnestone writes: These memorable poems keep singing with their insistent beauty. Her work has been published in numerous journals including Cimarron Review, L.A. Review, and South Carolina Review, and she is a former Poet Laureate of Montgomery County, PA.

Ferleger has attended esteemed writers conferences nationally and internationally including Bread Loaf Writers Conference in Vermont and Sicily, Colrain Poetry Manuscript Conference, Summer Literary Seminars in Lithuania, Polish Poetry Conference in Krakow, Poland, and Vermont College of Fine Arts Poetry Manuscript Conference. She holds an MFA in Poetry and a PhD in psychology and maintains a mindfulness based therapy practice in Wyncote PA. Ferleger uses poetry and mindfulness approaches in her practice as a way to help clients feel a sense of belonging, acceptance and compassion for all challenges.
