Author's Bio

John Gifford is a writer and photographer whose work explores our relationship with the natural world. His subjects frequently include food and agriculture, fish and wildlife conservation, and the environment. He is the author of Red Dirt Country: Field Notes and Essays on Nature, Pecan America: Exploring a Cultural Icon, and a forthcoming title, Landscaping for Wildlife. His nonfiction has appeared in Southwest Review and The Atlantic, and has been cited in The Best American Essays and The Best American Sports Writing anthologies. He works from Oklahoma City, in America's southern Great Plains.
