Author's Bio

Mark Nickels is a poet and writer of fiction, formerly of New York City but now living in western Massachusetts. Of "Cicada," his book of poems published in 2000 by Rattapallax Press, Jim Harrison wrote, "In most ways Cicada is an astounding book, nearly a new species of poetry. Often the poems poach gracefully in the territory of the novel. I was poignantly taken by the astute fluidity of the language, the facility of looking at ordinary things in a radical new way. This book should be widely read because it announces the arrival of a poet who has a good shot at being major." Two poems from this first book were recently chosen for publication in the online anthology of the Poetry Foundation.

Nickels is looking for a publisher for a new manuscript entitled "Core Samples."
