Ryan Shoemaker was raised in Auburn, Washington. His work appears in Silk Road Review, Santa Monica Review, Grist: A Journal for Writers, Monkeybicycle, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Gulf Stream, and Juked, among others.

Ryan holds an MA from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California.
