Reports To: Director of Publisher Development

Employment Status: Full-Time

Overview

As the Data Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the Data Team and ensuring that all data- related matters within the company are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. The Data Manager is responsible for all aspects of IPG’s print metadata from ingestion to distribution, working closely with the internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of the business. Data Manager should possess the capability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-volume environment, while being able to adapt to changing priorities, exhibit strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage the Data Team, ensuring efficient completion of duties, while providing mentorship and guidance for professional development in data management.
  • Conduct weekly 1:1 meeting with team members to schedule, lead, and document progress, priorities and address escalations, questions, and issues.
  • Develop and implement data policies and procedures, act as point of escalation for data issues, and serve as the data team point-of-contact for cross-departmental projects and workflows.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and meet data needs, share data across the organization, represent data team in meetings, and resolve Ingram or Amazon related issues. Additionally, investigate, troubleshoot, and repair any technical issues.
  • Manage Freshdesk inbox, assign tickets, and serve as primary contact for account-based metadata support, including signing biz dev green forms for new publishers and refeeding titles as needed.
  • Responsible for managing outbound ONIX feeds, publisher migrations, and EDI price rectification using Title Management Module (TMM) and Firebrand software.
  • Keep up to date with the most recent data management, publishing, and Book Industry Study Group (BISG) developments and incorporate them into the company's plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data management.
  • Excellent managerial skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical skills and experience working with SQL and TMM.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with Amazon, ONIX, and EDI.
  • Familiarity with book publishing industry and metadata standards.
  • Physical abilities. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Travel requirements. Less than 5
