Freelance Writer

** This role will be on assignment for Columbia University School of Professional Studies but hired through a Temporary Agency.**

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Writer will support the write news articles for the website, but might also be asked to produce blurbs for promotional materials including social media posts, brochures, emails, slides, and event descriptions.

Responsibilities

  • Write strategic content for the School of Professional Studies (SPS) across web, print, digital, video, social media, and email channels.
  • Effectively copy edit assignments using Chicago Manual of Style.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of writing experience for news or non-profit organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent related experience
  • A resume and cover letter with salary requirements must be submitted to be considered for the position

Other Requirements

  • Needs to provide three published news clips from the past three years
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong understanding and ability to apply the rules of the Chicago Manual of Style
