Contemplation as a practice has many and varied benefits. It's one of those things we all know we should be doing, but so many times the business and hustle of life don't make for many moments of quiet or contemplation. We are so used to a life full of noise and movement that slowing down and sitting quietly can feel uncomfortable.

Make yourself and filling your creative well a priority with this Whole Artist Event that has contemplation at its core. During this workshop, attendees will be given a series of writing or drawing prompts to take with them into the chapel or around the grounds. After an hour of solitary writing and contemplation in the beautiful surrounds of the chapel, participants will gather to share their experience and/or the results of their quiet writing time.

Accessibility: Street parking around the Menil and Rothko. Sidewalks have tree root uplift per usual for Montrose. Smooth gravel and concrete paths around the Rothko and environs.

This event is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. This project is generously funded by the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, and Mid-America Arts Alliance.
