unseen, the Independent Spirit Award-winning film, is now available to stream for free online at pbs.org and the PBS app through June 16.

The film dives deep into the life of Pedro, an aspiring social worker who faces restrictions as a blind, undocumented immigrant to get his college degree. Using experimental cinematography, unseen reimagines film accessibility through an audio-centric experience.

As the aesthetics of this film is inspired by poetry, we're excited to present our virtual event - Between the Lines: A Poetry Reading and Performance for unseen.

This event will explore unseen through the lens of poetry and how people living at the intersections of immigration, disability, and mental health often experience a liminal existence - inhabit the space between the lines. The event line-up includes performances by undocumented and disabled poets and a singer-songwriter; a conversation among them and the film’s protagonist, Pedro, about issues relating to the film and their own work and experiences; and a closing writing prompt for audience members to take home.
