Delicious to read, devilishly difficult to write, micro memoir requires great story-telling skill and evocative language.

You love reading short pieces. You love memoir and nonfiction. Maybe you’ve tried writing very brief true stories, but have struggled to make them rich, memorable, compact and publishable. Many writers approach flash and micro forms as an exercise in compression and deletion, but there is another, potentially more rewarding, way to approach short form.

In this webinar, we’ll look at key qualities of successful, reader-oriented, published micro memoir. Then, you’ll learn a series of guidelines for creating your own micro memoirs that really work: contain, energize, turn, surprise.

This form is deceptively simple and easy to read, but maddingly difficult to compose because there is nowhere to hide—every technique must be perfectly on point. You’ll leave with guidance and inspiration for your own experiments with charming, addictive, publishable micro memoir.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • EXAMINE key elements of micro memoir
  • LEARN HOW to incorporate those elements in your own work
  • NAVIGATE common pitfalls—what not to do!
  • DISCOVER journals and magazines specifically focused on micro memoir & open to new writers

This webinar is ideal for writers

  • Writers who want to improve their story-telling skill
  • Writers who want to break into publishing micro memoir/flash nonfiction
  • Memoirists seeking to jumpstart a project
  • Writers ready to create publishable pieces
  • Nonfiction and memoir writers eager to learn the secrets of writing tight
  • Writers yearning to write successful micro/flash series
