We will cover the dos and don’ts of query letters – including how they differ based on genre –address publishing pitfalls, illuminate common confusions such as Is having a platform necessary, and if so, what does that mean? …and much more!

Registrants will have the opportunity to practice their elevator pitch (this is the “jacket copy” of your book, follow that link to learn more)– and to ask questions of the panelists from big and small presses. You will also receive the slides and an extensive packet with resources.

During this intensive, you will…

  • LEARN how to write an effective query letter
  • DEVELOP a list of publishers to pursue
  • DISCOVER resources for finding the right agent for your work
  • ENGAGE in a small-group session to refine your elevator pitch

An hour lunch break will be scheduled from 3-4 pm Eastern. This event will be conducted via Zoom, providing convenient access for all participants.

This intensive is ideal for writers…

  • with little to intermediate knowledge of publishing
  • who are thinking about trying to find an agent and/or publisher for their book
  • seeking practical advice to navigate the submission process with small and big presses

This intensive is not best for…
