Memory is fickle. So it can be especially revelatory to explore different perspectives when developing a piece of memoir. That’s where the interview comes in. During this workshop, we’ll review methods for conducting an interview with a family member or close friend. The instructor will offer detailed suggestions for how to prepare questions and shape the conversation to get the information that will help you most. As a drill, we will practice interviewing and writing about each other. As time allows, we will workshop how these tools can assist you in crafting a specific piece of writing you are either brainstorming or already developing. You will leave with new ideas to further your work and the foundational knowledge to conduct an interview – even one that might be sensitive or difficult.

This event is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. This project is generously funded by the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, and Mid-America Arts Alliance.
