The program offers partial funding through fellowships and scholarships.

The Writers-Helping Writings Need-based Scholarships offer a $1,000 tuition discount per semester ($4,000 total). The Kurt Brown Fellowship for Diverse Voices offers $1,500 tuition discount applied to first semester; the Frances L. Toner Fellowship for Veterans offers a $1,500 tuition discount applied to first semester or free room and board on campus for student’s first year; the Monica Hand Fellowship for Nontraditional Students offers $1,500 tuition discount applied to first semester for applicants forty years of age or older; and Genre-Based Fellowships ($1,500 each tuition discount applied to first semester) include the Dennis Lehane Fellowship for Fiction, the Michael Steinberg Fellowship for Creative Nonfiction, the Doug and Betsy Sholl Fellowship for Poetry, and the Jacqueline Woodson Fellowship for a Young People’s Writer of African or Caribbean Descent.

The program includes concentrations in Writing for Young People and Comics & Graphic Narratives, as well as a track in Pedagogy.

For the winter residency, the application deadline to be considered for a fellowship is October 30 and the deadline for general applications is November 13. For the summer residency, the application deadline to be considered for a fellowship is April 29 and the deadline for general applications is May 13.
