The Sewanee MFA is primarily a summer-only residency with optional fall and spring online courses.
Students attend a six-week residency each June to July at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Students are expected to complete the program in three to five summers, after completing a thesis project.
The faculty changes each summer. The program offers tracks in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Merit scholarships are awarded in each genre, and all high school teachers receive a Blake & Bailey Family Fund Scholarships. The School of Letters hosts a lecture and reading series each summer.
Rolling admissions open December 1 and the priority deadline is January 31.
