Editorial Focus

Washington Writers’ Publishing House is a nonprofit literary organization that has published nearly 80 volumes of poetry and fiction since 1975. The press sponsors annual manuscript competitions for book-length manuscripts in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction for writers who live in Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia.

Tips From the Editor

WWPH is a diverse, inclusive, collaborative literary press staffed entirely by volunteers and so winning authors are also expected to become active members working in book production, design, promotion, editing, and judges for a minimum of two years. WWPH manuscript prizes include honorarium, publication, twenty-five author copies, editorial guidance, and launch promotional support. WWPH also publishes a biweekly online literary journal, WWPH Writes, which spotlights work from a poet and prose writer in each issue. This biweekly publication is free to submit and subscribe to—and will give writers insight into our literary sensibility. More details on WWPH Writes on our website at www.washingtonwriters.org.
