On October 5, the Huffington Post will unveil a new books section and kick off an Oprah-style book club, the New York Observer reported yesterday. According to Arianna Huffington, the site will feature essays and articles culled from the New York Review of Books alongside material contributed by HuffPo readers, a mixture designed to highlight “the best of the old and the best of the new.”

The summer issue of the Strand will feature the first chapter in what is to be a five-part serialization of a previously unpublished novel by Graham Greene. The Empty Chair, a murder mystery the author began—and then evidently abandoned—when he was just twenty-two, was discovered last year by a French researcher in the Greene archives at the University of Texas in Austin.

McSweeney’s founder Dave Eggers says his quarterly’s next issue intends to prove the viability of print by adopting a newspaper format.
