Author's Bio

Lynne Viti is the inaugural Poet Laureate of Westwood, Massachusetts. A graduate of Barnard College and Boston College Law School, she is a  lecturer emerita in the Writing Program at Wellesley College. She practiced law in Boston before resuming her teaching career, which began in the Stamford, Connecticut public schools in 1971.
          Viti has publishedmany scholarly articles on composition pedagogy, law and ethics, and cinema and media studies. Beginning with Boston Poet Laureate  Sam Cornish’s poetry workshops  at the Boston Public Library fifteen years ago, she turned her energies to writing poetry and fiction. Her work has appeared widely, in over 150 print and online venues.
         Awarded honorable mentions in the 2014 Glimmer Train Short Fiction Contest, the 2015 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Contest, the WOMR/Joe Gouveia Outermost Poetry Contest in  2018,2019, 2020 and 2022,  longlisted for the Fish Poetry Contest in 2020, and nominated for Mass. Book of the Year in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2022 and for the Pushcart Prize, she blogs at lynneviti.wordpress.com.
